Waiting to Exhale

I'm not one to worry, but there has been a pit in my stomach for the past few weeks. Although I knew that everything was going to be fine with the baby, I couldn't shake that lingering thought that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't.

This morning, I had my first ultrasound. There was a tiny body, with a flashing, flickering little heartbeat! My friend Lisa was there with me, and she started crying. Tonya says that's appropriate, since Lisa was standing in for Martin, and he would have cried, too.

I'm so thankful to know that this baby is healthy and growing. The heart rate was 167, which both Lisa and Noelle say means it's a girl. We'll see about that!

Yea!!!! That is awesome! I'm so glad that Lisa could be there with you.
Maybe a girl and maybe not! I think Ian's was right up there too. Sometimes they can be sneaky!! Ha!
Boy or girl, I know they will be very loved!

You know I never check blogs or e-mail or phone messages or anything else, so you have to know how excited I am for you both and how much I love you since I am making this kind of effort which is not big for anyone but me. Sorry about the paragraph sentence but you know how I am. I am going to wait until you have your bundle of joy before I come and see you if that is okay....I want to see your beautiful Little Leeuwner before your child is to big and since you are not down the street anymore I have to actually use my brain to think things through. CONGRATS! Excited is not an accurate description. I screamed but you didn't know that cause this is a computer and not a phone.
LOVE you BOTH! Amanda

Congratulations, Martin and Betsy!!!! I am so excited for you guys. About the heart rate, all my kids' heart rates were that high. So you never know. Whatever he or she maybe they are a gift from God and greatly to be treasured. Congrats!!!

So very happy for your little family. I would have been crying too, Lisa. Love ya. You know where to find me if you need me. Unless its my birthday, of course, then I'll be stuck at home.

Hey Betsy,

I'm so excited for you guys. That first ultra sound where you can see the heartbeat is amazing. Don't get set on girl just yet though....my first ultra sound the heart beat was 166. Then a month or two later it dropped to 150 where it stayed for two months and last Thursday I had my 5 month ultrasound where we gt to find out what we are having and it was a BOY and his heart rate had dropped again to 142. BUT I will be so excited to follow your journey even though I am 2000 + miles away....and I will be so excited to find out what you are having in a few months. Keep the posts coming!!!

Love you guys!
